Message From The Director
 It
is with great pleasure that we open The Heart & Vascular Institute,
a modern, integrated specialty care center dedicated to the health
and well being of patients with heart and vascular disease.
Cardiovascular
disease is the leading cause of death and disability in the U.S.
According to current estimates, 1 in 5 individuals have some form
of the disease. Unfortunately, many go untreated until the disease
presents symptoms or until a major cardiovascular event such as
a heart attack or stroke occurs. Further, many individuals with
heart and vascular disease do not seek specialized treatment and
accept the limitations it can cause.
The Heart &
Vascular Institute was founded by a group of physicians with the
purpose of reducing the incidence and impact of heart and vascular
disease. This is accomplished by stressing the importance of prevention
and by using the latest technologies in the diagnosis and treatment
of cardiovascular diseases.
The "vascular
center" is a new concept in medicine: it integrates a highly trained
team of cardiovascular specialists, the most advanced technology,
clinical research and professional and patient educational programs.
Concentrated in a single location, this multi-disciplinary team
of physicians with a depth of knowledge of cardiovascular diseases
evaluate, diagnose, treat, and prevent heart and vascular disease
with the ultimate goal of improving quality of life and patient
outcomes.
The Institute
is uniquely equipped with the vast resources required to achieve
these goals. Our equipment includes the very latest imaging and
diagnostic technology. Clinical research is conducted in a dedicated
research space under the direction of leading cardiovascular specialists.
An educational center, complete with the latest information technology
and teleconferencing capabilities will serve as a hub for the dissemination
of the most current cardiovascular thinking and treatment strategies
among patients, physicians and our community.
