Jeffrey

Dr. Jeffrey Olin is one of the foremost vascular
experts in the country, most recently having served as Chairman
of the Deparmtent of Vascular Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation
(Cleveland, OH).
Dr. Olin received his medical degree in 1977 from
the Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine (Kansas City, MO).
He completed his internship in 1978 at Grandview Hospital (Dayton,
OH) and his residency in 1981 at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation
(Cleveland, OH). In addition, Dr. Olin completed a fellowship in
hypertension and nephrology in 1983, also at the Cleveland Clinic
Foundation.
A world-renowned expert in the field of vascular
medicine, Dr. Olin has been the lead investigator in many clinical
trials, including therapeutic angiogenesis (gene therapy). He currently
serves as president of the Society for Vascular Medicine and Biology.
He is also an Associate Editor for the journal of Vascular Medicine.
He edited and wrote one of the most respected books on vascular
disease entitled Peripheral Vascular Diseases and is the
author of over 130 scientific publications and book chapters.

Michael

Dr. Jaff is recognized as a national and international
thought leader in the field of vascular medicine. He recently served
as the Medical Director of the Center for Vascular Care and Director
of the Vascular Diagnostic Laboratory at the Washington Hospital
Center (Washington, D.C.).
Dr. Jaff received his medical degree from the Kirksville
College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1985. He completed his internal
medicine residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation (Cleveland,
OH) in 1989. He remained at the Cleveland Clinic serving as Chief
Medical Resident for one year and as a fellow in Vascular Medicine.
A leading educator to physicians, nurses, and patients
in vascular medicine, Dr Jaff has lectured extensively throughout
the world, and has authored numerous publications in the field.
He is presently on the editorial board for several major vascular
journals including Catheterization and Cardiovascular Intervention,
The Journal of Endovascular Therapy, The Journal of Invasive
Cardiology, and Angiology. He serves as a member of the
Board of Trustees, and is currently treasurer of the Society for
Vascular Medicine and Biology.
Having directed prominent vascular diagnostic laboratories
and vascular medicine programs in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and New York,
Dr. Jaff is now the medical director of the largest independent
research vascular 'core' ultrasound laboratory in the United States.

Julianna
Czum, M.D.
Director, Vascular MR
Dr. Czum is a Diplomate of the American Board of
Radiology and an expert in advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
applications for blood vessels and the heart.
Dr. Czum is a native of New Jersey and a graduate
of UMDNJ/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. After an internship
in Internal Medicine at The Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital (Cooperstown,
NY), she went on to a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at St. Barnabas
Medical Center (Livingston, NJ). She then became the first Cardiovascular
MRI Research Fellow of a collaborative program between the National
Institutes of Health (NIH), National Naval Medical Center (NNMC),
and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS)
in Bethesda, Maryland. She is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor
of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at USUHS.
Her primary research interests are emerging applications
and optimization of gadolinium-enhanced three-dimensional magnetic
resonance angiography (MRA) techniques, and she has presented her
research findings to an international audience. She is also an investigator
for clinical trials involving novel MRI contrast agents for peripheral
vascular MRA and coronary MRA.

James
F. London, M.D.
Director, Cardiac MR
James Falk London, M.D. is a board-certified cardiologist
specializing in advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) applications
for the heart. After receiving his medical degree from Wayne State
University (Detroit, MI), Dr. London completed his internship and
residency in Internal Medicine at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital (Ann
Arbor, MI).
Upon completion of a Fellowship in Cardiology at
William Beaumont Hospital (Royal Oak, MI), Dr. London undertook
a fellowship in Cardiac MRI at the National Institutes of Health
(Bethesda, MD).
Dr. London's primary research interest is in cardiac
MRI stress testing. He has used his experience to establish a full
service cardiac MRI laboratory at the Heart & Vascular Institute
for patient care and research. Dr. London also practices clinical
cardiology, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography and electron beam
tomography.

Peter
L. Smith, M.D., M.A.C.R.
Director, Endovascular Services
Dr. Smith is an interventional radiologist with
extensive training and experience in the minimally-invasive treatment
of peripheral vascular disease. Dr. Smith received his medical degree
from Washington University School of Medicine (St. Louis, MO) and
completed his radiology training at the Massachusetts General Hospital
(Boston, MA). He served as chief resident in diagnostic radiology
and then completed two interventional fellowships in gastrointestinal/genitourinary
radiology and angiography at the MGH.
Dr. Smith has participated as a research investigator
in several national clinical trials. For the past five years, he
has been at the forefront in the development and implementation
of a new procedure to treat abdominal aortic aneurysms known as
aortic stent-graft repair. Other areas of clinical interest and
research include: renal/visceral artery angioplasty, vascular stents,
thrombolysis, carotid artery angioplasty/stents and embolization
procedures.

Harvey
S. Hecht, M.D., F.A.C.C.
Director, Preventive Cardiology and Electron Beam Tomography
Dr. Hecht is a leading expert in preventive cardiology. Prior to
joining the Heart & Vascular Institute he served as Director of
Cardiac Imaging, Electron Beam Tomography and Preventive Cardiology
at the Arizona Heart Institute and Foundation (Phoenix, AZ). Dr.
Hecht also held the position of Chairman, Department of Medicine
at the world-renowned Arizona Heart Hospital.
A graduate of Albert Einstein College of Medicine (New York, NY),
Dr. Hecht completed his internship at Lincoln Hospital, Albert Einstein
College of Medicine followed by residencies in Internal Medicine
at Lincoln Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital (New York, NY). He
then undertook a Cardiology Fellowship at Beth Israel Hospital,
Harvard Medical School (Boston, MA).
Dr. Hecht is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular
Disease, and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
He is a consultant to the editors of numerous cardiovascular publications
and serves as President for the Society of Atherosclerosis Imaging.
Dr. Hecht has completed extensive research in cardiac imaging and
has been widely published. He is one of the world's foremost experts
in the Electron Beam Tomography (EBT) Ultrafast Heart Scan, a simple,
safe, non-invasive test to detect early evidence of coronary artery
disease.
